ABOUT ME
As a writer of science fiction and fantasy, I have been published in Daily Science Fiction, Diabolical Plots, Conspiracies & Cryptids, Kaleidocast podcast, perihelionsf.com, Plays about Reproductive Freedom, Man.In.Fest journal of Experimental Theatre, American Diversity Review, and the upcoming Thank you for Joining the Algorithm. I have been a member of Brooklyn Speculative Fiction Writers (BSFW) for over 10 years, and was director/writer/actor/producer of Kaleidocast podcast for two seasons. I am a member of the Writers’ Institute and Tabula Rasa.
As part of the BSFW Expert Meetup Series, I have given two workshops on Reading Your Own Work and focus on writers who will read their work at panels, book-signings and at pitch events.
Here is what S.A. Chakraborty, best-selling author of City of Brass, said about the workshop:
"I have spent my entire life terrified of public speaking, to the point that I was genuinely uncertain if I wanted to pursue publication as I knew readings were part of being an author. A single session with Marcy changed my entire outlook. She offered tips that I still recall to myself six years later. I feel so much more comfortable and natural when reading aloud, and I'm routinely asked by other authors how I learned to be so confident and emotive. It's because of Marcy!"
I was a theatre director with the OBIE-winning Immigrants’ Theatre Project and have worked with hundreds of award-winning actors as well as those at the beginning of their careers, including actors from over 90 countries and backgrounds. I have directed plays and taught classes through the Fulbright Program in Romania and Czechia. I am a theatre professor at the City University of New York, guiding both theatre and non-theatre majors towards performance, confidence and enjoyment of the public arena.
