As fellow BSFW-er Dan La Noue wrote:
Some fiction writers are great orators -- either by nature or through training. I am NOT one of those writers. So when I signed up for a pitching roundtable with two esteemed literary agents, I was nervous about having to read my query letter and novel sample aloud. Thankfully, I had a great coach and mentor in my corner. Marcy Arlin, a speculative author and theatre director, led me through a series of practice sessions with patience, wisdom and wit. With line-by-line, syllable-for-syllable precision, she helped me turn my written words into vibrant spoken words. She helped me better understand the pacing and rhythm, emphasis and enunciation, tone and cadence of my writing. Bottomline, she gave me confidence that I could tell my story aloud with conviction and intentionality. I highly recommend her to my fellow authors!
